Santiago Pérez Hoyos
Dr. Santiago Pérez Hoyos, physicist and astrophysicist, is an associate professor at the School of Engineering in Bilbao (University of the Basque Country) and has extensive experience in the study of planetary atmospheres. He has researched at institutions such as the University of Oxford and collaborated in NASA projects. He is also an active science communicator in the media and conferences.
In his talk “Manual for the Destruction of Planet Earth: Cosmic Threats and Planetary Defense,” he will follow the thread of the book of the same name to explore the fragility of Earth in the face of space threats. Additionally, he will analyze how space exploration not only allows us to better understand these dangers but also plays a key role in mitigating them. Efrén Díaz Díaz is a lawyer and holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Navarra. He is currently a Senior Associate and Head of the Technology and Space Law Areas at the Bufete Mas y Calvet law firm, based in Madrid. He also serves as the Data Protection Officer in Europe in sectors such as finance, law, healthcare, geospatial, and education.
He is the author of the “Geospatial Code” published by the Official State Bulletin (BOE) of Spain, a work that systematizes the regulations related to spatial issues on land, sea, air, and outer space.
In his talk, he will go into detail about the administrative challenges faced by aerospace companies and the current landscape of innovation and opportunities in Spain within this growing sector.
